Description
Tulsa C.A.R.E.S. was created in 1991 out of a needs assessment conducted by the Community Service Council of Tulsa. Community leaders came together to develop a plan to respond to the AIDS epidemic and developed a model program that has since been replicated across the country. The model created a "one stop source" for accessing services by bringing together several organization under one roof. This helped to reduce the fragmentation of services, allowed for collaboration and cooperation among providers, and eased the burden on clients and family members trying to access a complex system for care.
