Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
It is the duty, mission and purpose of GMO Free NJ to educate individuals and families of New Jersey about genetically engineered foods (GMOs) and to provide support, information and resources for consumers to be free to choose whether or not to purchase such substances. It is a basic and unalienable right for human beings to have the information needed to make the choices that support their own sustenance. In March of 1962 President John F Kennedy presented to Congress the Consumer's Bill of Rights. He directed Congress that consumers, as the largest economic group in the US economy, have: 1) the right to safety, 2) the right to be informed, 3) the right to choose, and 4) the right to be heard. We embrace and support these rights by helping the consumers of New Jersey discern (in the absence of transparent labeling of GMOs) which products contain GMOs or were produced using genetic engineering, and which products don't. We strive to provide New Jersey consumers with access to the latest scientific studies and any and all developments that affect the food supply in terms of genetic engineering and their accompanying agricultural chemicals. We accomplish this through study and research, education, community gatherings, outreach campaigns, special projects, volunteer training, and support of other like-minded nonprofit groups within and outside New Jersey.
