York County Animal Shelter

Description

York County Animal Shelter is a multi faceted organization that provides animal services to a population of just over 200,000 people. We are a government facility obligated to assisting the public with many diffierent animal concerns they may have. We make sure laws and ordinances regarding animals are followed throughout the county. Homeless animals and unwanted pets are brought into our facility everyday. It is our job to provide proper care for these animals.

Once the animal comes into the shelter we try to reunite it with its owner. In some cases the owners may turn in their own animals. After an animal has been here the required number of days we work hard to find the animal a home. Some are adopted and some go to rescue. Because there are so many unwanted pets it is hard to find homes for all of them. We are trying to implement new outlets to help these animals. Because of a limited staff volunteers are important to the operations of different programs we offer.
