Mission Statement

Established in 1995 to rescue, rehabilitate and release sick, injured, orphaned and displaced wild birds throughout the middle Florida Keys.

Description

Our facility consists of a full mini-surgical unit where are volunteer veterinarians can preform operations on-site.

We house approximately 75 non-releasable wild birds and tend to 30-50 patients on a daily basis. Foster mommies raise orphaned doves and passerines off-site. We also staff educational booths at many local events and provide educational presentations.

We rescue approximately 800 birds per year. Most are brown pelicans and double-crested cormorants that are divided 50/50 between emaciation and entanglement with fishing gear. Other injuries are due to collisions with windows, automobiles, planes and boats.

Since our inception in 1995 we have been located in the 64-acre hardwood hammock known as Crane Point Museum and Nature Center.
