Mission Statement

MISSION STATEMENT

ALL PEOPLE'S DAY, INC. fosters peace and harmony among all cultural and issue-based groups by promoting understanding and mutual acceptance through the arts.

ONE OF THE GOALS is to establish All People’s Day as an annual diversity holiday in the US and the world. All People’s Day activities include experiential learning by holding interactive educational programs, products and the annual celebration of the All People's Day Diversity Festival.

Description

THE THREE MAIN TRADITIONS OF THE HOLIDAY ARE

1) The Craft Dough People that teaches we’re all made from the same materials and should therefore be treated with equal respect

2) The Symbol of APD that shows all of the world’s people to be one family

3) The Origami Peace Cranes symbolizing peace among nations and individuals that we all desire since we care about people. At these events the three traditions are expanded upon and include many other connections and cultural traditions.

RATIONAL for ALL PEOPLE’S DAY

The increased attacks on immigrants, Muslims, Jews, African Americans, Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transgender individuals, violent tragedies in our schools due to feeling different, and extended wars, emphasize a real need for people to respect the differences and similarities that make us individuals.

By the year 2050, white European Americans will no longer constitute the majority of the US population. This will affect every child, every adult and every senior citizen. People from different cultures will be interacting with one another more often than ever before. If we don't start educating our children to respect each other the consequences could lead to wide spread conflict. The seeds of peace and understanding must be planted now and the arts are great tools because the arts touch people's hearts.
