Mission Statement

Seeing Stars Foundation focuses on the aspects of concussion that matter the most for athletes of all ages, particularly the young players. We are more than advocacy when it comes to the issues involving the danger of concussion in sports. We put our words into action and constantly strive to execute the key elements which make up the bulk of our mission:

>> To promote research, awareness, and education on sports related concussion and sports related neurological injuries.

>> To develop programs that offer young athletes the same level of testing, equipment, and protection as the professional players.

>> To train and certify qualified physicians and athletic trainers to assist and treat concussed athletes both on the sidelines and in approved treatment facilities.

Description

Seeing Stars was founded by Neurologistswith an expertise in sports related neurological issues in an effort to improve the quality of life of athletes of all ages. Our doctors serve as consultants and team physicians for the NFL, NHL, Professional Boxing, the NCAA, United States Tennis Association and serve on concussion committees for the NFL and NFL players association to name just a few.

The Seeing Stars Foundation is a 501 c[3] non-profit organization whose mission is to support research and education on sports related concussion and sports related neurological injuries from the pee wee to the professional level. The Foundation is currently working on a national outreach program to train physicians, athletic trainers and other healthcare professionals in the diagnosis and management of sports related concussion, as well as a national television and print media campaign for sports related concussion awareness. Our members are currently working with the US Congress on H.R. 1347 which provides for the establishment and implementation of concussion management guideline with respect to school age children, along with the American Academy of Neurology to update their concussion guidelines as the standard of care in diagnosing and managing sports related concussion and return to play.
