Mission Statement

The mission of BCCHE is to improve long-term health and life quality of Bronx residents, especially the young and the elderly, through health education, nutrition education, and awareness. Our focus is on preventing obesity, diabetes, asthma, and smoking-related illnesses; promoting family planning; and working children with learning and cognitive disabilities and their families. Bronx Community Center for Health Education offers educational outreach programs at public schools, youth and day care programs, and senior centers. Our educational programs utilize latest medical research and work with physicians and medical personnel from the community.

Description

At our health events we offer FREE health screenings, including glucose and blood pressure screenings, HIV screening, prostrate exams and mammograms. Physicians lecture on asthma, allergies, obesity, and pain management. Music and refreshments made our health fairs complete! Among BCCHE's new initiatives is Feeling Good- Looking Good program for women after chemotherapy treatment.
