Mission Statement

The mission of the Guiding Lights Mentoring Program is to educate and support youth in Josephine County who have multiple risk factors affecting their ability to achieve good grades. Through their efforts, and the friendship of a Mentor, they will learn to overcome adversity and to value a good education. We believe that those who have experienced life firsthand are the best teachers.

Description

Make a Difference, Become a Mentor

The Guiding Lights Mentoring Program is the newest addition to the College Dreams family, and will allow us to provide support and guidance to 150 "most in need" students in Josephine County.

How You Can Help: A strong mentor can change a child's life forever. This is especially true for young students who are struggling with serious and complex challenges at home and school. We want to invite you to submit an application to become a mentor. We also would appreciate it if you can nominate anyone else you know who could be a powerful, positive role model for children. Our mentors will be screened, well trained, and will meet with a student weekly at one of our five middle school, five elementary school, or community partner sites. We are requesting a minimum commitment of 1 year.

Please contact us for more information.
