Mission Statement

Neighborhood Housing Services of Austin, a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO), exists for the purpose of extending affordable housing opportunities to low- and moderate-income and disabled persons through constructing, rehabilitating, preserving, and providing decent, safe, and sanitary housing. The Corporation shall also seek to improve opportunities for home ownership, assist in the reduction of crime, improve life circumstances and engage in projects that benefit the community.

Description

Neighborhood Housing Services of Austin (NHSA) was incorporated in 1992 and since then has constructed and/or rehabilitated 73 homes that have been sold to first time homebuyers with low- and moderate-incomes. While NHSA serves all of Austin and Travis County, the organization's primary focus in the recent years has been the St. John's Community in Northeast Austin.
