Mission Statement

At Autism Speaks, our goal is to change the future for all who struggle with autism spectrum disorders. We are dedicated to funding global biomedical research into the causes, prevention, treatments, and cure for autism; to raising public awareness about autism and its effects on individuals, families, and society; and to bringing hope to all who deal with the hardships of this disorder.

Description

1 in 150 children is diagnosed with autism. There is no known cause or cure. This is the nation's fastest growing serious developmental disorder, and is reaching epidemic proportions. Autism Speaks holds Walk Now for Autism in Tacoma, Seattle and Portland to raise funds for autism research and treatments. We also staff booths at fairs all over the state to bring greater awareness of this disorder. We need volunteers to staff planning committees and to staff educational booths. We can make a difference. A break through is just around the corner!
