Description

SparkPath (formerly Success Beyond the Classroom)’s history includes 30+ years of working with schools to provide relevant, highly valued enrichment programs to students across the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area.

Whether the focus is on writing, exploring STEM careers, participating in academic competitions, or problem-solving through creative thinking, students at SparkPath events have unique opportunities to engage in hands-on activities with leaders, professionals, and fellow students. Each of SparkPath’s programs makes it possible for students to discover and explore new talents, passions, and possibilities for their future.

Our events could not happen without our AMAZING "Red Shirt Volunteers"! Volunteer tasks range from checking in school groups, helping students feel safe as they navigate campus, assisting presenters during their sessions, monitoring various spaces, transporting lunches, helping with event logistics, and most importantly... having fun!

Programs:
CreativeCon
Creativity Festival
Future City Competition
Knowledge Bowl (Middle Grades & Senior High)

The team at Success Beyond the Classroom provides incredible event opportunities for these youth, and always goes out of their way to make sure that the volunteers are well prepared, well equipped, and well informed to ensure that the day goes smoothly and that the kids maximize their opportunities. The STEMLink day itself is so gratifying to be a part of because of the reaction, energy, and engagement that the kids have through being exposed to critical STEM career introductions. I would highly recommend both the organization and event for any individual or corporate team to participate in or sponsor, and plan to continue to stay involved in the future.

I randomly came across the opportunity to volunteer with SBC through Volunteer Match. I had such a great time as a "Red Shirt Volunteer" at the Young Authors Conference! Everything is so extremely organized that it makes the work easy to follow. The employees that were working were so kind and helpful while guiding everyone through the day. I am definitely going to be volunteering with SBC in their future events!

I have volunteered with SBC three times and I plan on continuing as the experience is rewarding and fun. It’s great to see the students so excited and engaged in the various sciences and technology that the instructors expose the students to. As a retired engineer it is exciting for me to realize that some of these students will now consider a career in a science related field because of this exposure. Each time I volunteered the event was well organized and time efficient, as well as making me feel appreciated and glad I was there. Volunteers do not need to know anything about science for this opportunity, just a desire to spend some time with a fun and eager group of students. I know you will find this opportunity rewarding.

I have volunteered with Success Beyond the Classroom a couple of times now. I am always amazed by the level of coordination from the team. They lay out their expectations of you and your role throughout the day. It is very clear what you are expected to do and where you are expected to be. The students are engaged in the programming. Many of their volunteer opportunities have the students navigating college campuses and the signage for the students is helpful and friendly.

Success Beyond the Classroom is one of my favorite places to volunteer. Their programming focuses on inspiring kids to be amazing, innovative contributors to their world and it is refreshing and inspiring every time I volunteer with them. Additionally, their team has a great deal of respect for volunteers and makes the most of your time while you are there. They ensure that you are trained, meaningfully engaged, and understand why what you are doing is important. I enjoyed working with them enough that I've even coordinated group outings for work teams to volunteer!
