Mission Statement

Cure on Wheels raises money for life-saving cancer research and treatment at Moffitt Cancer Center through an annual bike-a-thon that travels along the beautiful roads around St. Leo, just north of Tampa. As Florida's only ride to benefit cancer research, Cure on Wheels intention is to successfully meld support from committed cyclists, volunteers, corporate sponsors and individual contributors. All are essential to Cure on Wheels goal and model: to attain maximum fundraising efficiency while increasing its annual gift. Our hope and aspiration is to provide Moffitt Cancer Center's doctors and researchers the necessary resources to discover cures for all cancers.

Description

Riding the Cure on Wheels is a way to channel physical, mental and emotional energy into something much greater than the athletic accomplishment that is gained by riding up to 165 miles. Cure on Wheels cyclists use their strength to help those who cannot. With each mile pedaled, the Cure on Wheels brings researchers closer to finding cures for various types of cancer that affect millions of people each year.

Cure on Wheels cyclists are a family, a unified force working toward a common goal. The personal success achieved by riding the Cure on Wheels and raising money for the Moffitt Cancer Center is consistently described as unbeatable. We have designed the weekend to have riders say Cure on Wheels is the highlight of their summer. In doing so we expect that the vast majority of those who ride the Cure on Wheels will become alumni and return annually with renewed enthusiasm and deeper commitments to both the ride and the cause.

Cure on Wheels cyclists are athletes, weekend warriors, or have little previous cycling experience. Regardless of their physical condition, those who ride the Cure on Wheels go to the starting line with an emotional commitment to helping others and being part of an effort much larger than themselves. In return, they experience a powerfully inspiring weekend, make new friends, and become a part of an extended family. Cure on Wheel ers ride because they can, and to help others who cannot.
