CAL-PEP is committed to preventing the spread of HIV and reducing substance abuse among youth and adults by delivering innovative services and programs in a confidential, sex friendly environment. The breadth of CAL-PEP'S services is primarily targeted at HIV negative and positive Alameda County community members from socially marginalized communities. CAL-PEP strives to improve and enhance services to clients using robust research and evaluation techniques in order to provide quality, relevant services with the utmost care and attention
As one of a handful of organizations in California specifically dedicated to providing HIV and STI prevention services to communities of color, the California Prevention and Education Project (CAL-PEP) is uniquely qualified to provide effective HIV outreach, prevention, and case management services for minority populations in the San Francisco Bay Area. With a 25-year history of prevention service provision in Oakland, San Francisco, and other Bay Area cities, CAL-PEP has established a high degree of visibility and trust within its target region. This trust allows CAL-PEP to effectively recruit hard-to-reach populations, and to retain high-risk and multiply diagnosed individuals in culturally competent prevention and service programs. CAL-PEP serves an average at least 5,000 high-risk unduplicated clients each year through repeated one-on-one contacts and direct service interventions.
