Description
The Maricopa Trail and Park Foundation is the nonprofit support organization helping to provide environmental education, linking more than 20 communities in Maricopa County to nature. The Foundation provides volunteer maintenance of the 270-mile loop Maricopa Trail that connects the 10 Maricopa County Regional Parks. The Maricopa Trail is a natural surface single-track trail open to all non-motorized trail users, including hikers, backpackers, trail runners, equestrians, and mountain bicyclists. The Maricopa Trail is 60% completed, and at full buildout will be nearly 500 miles in length. The Mricopa Trail offers special events, such as mountain bike races, trail running challenges, and equestrian endurance rides. The Maricopa County trails and parks system includes paddle recreation opportunities at Lake Pleasant, challenge mountain bike courses, and overnight camping. The Foundation is focused on the environmental learning that takes place when individuals, families, communities and visitors are connected to their natural world.
