Mission Statement

Caring and Sharing is a non-profit organization located in Northwest Florida. It is made up of community volunteers whose goal is to provide a helping hand to those who are struggling during the holiday season.

Description

Caring and Sharing started over 20 years ago when the Holley-Navarre Fire Station gathered toys for the children in the area for Christmas. Don VanDerryt was the newly appointed fire chief and he and his daughter Theresa set about the task of sorting the toys that had been donated. She went home in tears and told her mother Ruby that there were not enough toys, and most of the toys were broken and in need of repair. They gathered up what money they could and bought presents for the children.

The next year Ruby took on the job of collecting food, getting donations, and buying toys and wrapping them. She went door-to-door to the businesses to get help. She discovered the people had hearts of gold! And a tradition continues.

Through the years this event evolved into a south Santa Rosa County organization with support volunteers from Gulf Breeze to Navarre and north to the Yellow River. Caring and Sharing of South Santa Rosa County. Inc. is a 501c(3) non-profit organization in which all members are volunteers (including the board).

I DO Believe in miracles and I know they do happen when we are of a giving heart & mind. I want to share with you some information about a wonderful volunteer organization. Caring and Sharing is a non-profit organization made up of community volunteers whose goal is to provide a helping hand to those who find themselves in need or struggling during the holiday season. Every year at Caring & Sharing assistance interviews or at distribution, I have personally seen the delighted faces of family members when they know they will have groceries, help to feed their children over the school holiday breaks, and hope to be able to offer their children the "belief" in the kindness and mystery of a South Santa Rosa, Santa Claus! For whatever reason families find themselves in need, Caring and Sharing is there for them. I am so sure that my time as a volunteer with Caring and Sharing has blessed me in so many ways, that I can not stop volunteering every year! www.santarosacares.org
