MISSION

To ensure quality of life, comfort, and peace for our patients and provide support for their loved ones during their end-of-life experience.

We will serve everyone in our communities who needs and seeks our care and strive to improve the state of comfort care.

Description

At Hospice of Michigan, VOLUNTEERS are the heart of our Hospice. We value them as they are not only a help to us and our Hospice families, but without them we would not be able to continue with our work.

Our VOLUNTEERS understand the Hospice philosophy and go through an extensive training program. They are aware of the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the Hospice patients and their families. They are supported in every way possible by our nursing, social work and pastoral care staff members. Our VOLUNTEERS work in conjunction with other members of our Interdisciplinary Team and under the supervision of our Volunteer Service Manager. Our VOLUNTEERS provide support services for the patient and family in homes and in nursing homes. Our VOLUNTEERS are available throughout the day and evening hours, and usually stay for 2-4 hours.
