The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know about the most effective ways to contribute.
Northern Nevada Home Schools (NNHS) is a non-profit organization established to support, encourage, and assist parents and students who have chosen home education in Northern Nevada.
NNHS supports all ages K-12, and supports other support groups. Approximately 200 families are members, and more participate in NNHS activities as non-members.
Volunteering by members is not necessary, but is encouraged and rewarded. The activities we provide would not be possible without our volunteers. For members who organize two field trips in a year, or help NNHS in other significant ways, membership renewal is complimentary.
NNHS produces a monthly electronic newsletter, maintains a website and furnishes website services to support groups, provides merchant discounts, organizes and publicizes group activities, maintains an activity calendar, provides liability insurance for group activities, operates a lively email discussion list, sponsors various homeschool teams in regional and national competitions, sponsors a chapter of the National Homeschool Honor Society, maintains a lending library of educational materials, and much more!
