Mission Statement

The mission of the Alaska Military Youth Academy is to use proven military methods and techniques to motivate young men and women to become successful citizens.

Description

The Alaska Military Youth Academy's objective is to help young Alaskans, who statistically are headed for a dismal future, to become self-confident, contributing citizens of our state and of their local communities. The Academy consists of a 22-week residential program focused on Academics in a structured and disciplined environment. Upon completing the residential part of the program, our Cadets are involved in a 12-month Aftercare program, working closely with their mentor and Academy staff to further their education, enter the workforce, and/or enlist in the military. Cadets are required to remain actively involved with their mentor to accomplish future goal planning during both the Residential and Aftercare phases of our program. The impact of our mentors has greatly increased the success rates of the Cadets and our program.
