Mission Statement
Opportunity Impact provides youth living in public housing with the skills they need to create new opportunities and better their future.
Description
Our goal is that every youth who completes our five year program will:
- graduate from 8th grade and be learning on grade level
- be accepted into a college prep high school equipped with a toolkit of skills, resources and a roadmap to successfully navigate their way to high school graduation
- get placed into a college prep, vocational or othersupport program for their high school years
In March, our new youth center officially opens with our first class of twenty 4th graders coming in on weekdays from1pm-7pm and all participating in all three core program components :
Life Skills : activities, projects and lessons that cultivate positive personal habits & help establish healthy relationships with peers and adults
Academics : tutoring & academic skills classes, academic counseling workshops & school advocacy
Enrichment : one-on-one case management, home visits, referrals & any other support as needed at anytime
