Mission Statement

Building Chicago's community of mission-driven ventures

Description

Social Enterprise Alliance (SEA) is a nationwide, member-driven organization that seeks to create a community of social entrepreneurs, equipped with the tools and resources they need to succeed, and build an optimal environment in which they can thrive. With 16 different chapters in 14 different states, each chapter of the alliance accomplishes the national mission by providing members with education in the field of social enterprise and related topics, by offering access to professional resources that meet individual needs, by creating inspiration for keeping up with the mission-driven work, and by generating a sense of community through building connections among members.

With close to 100 members, the Chicago chapter (SEA-Chicago) continues to be the largest chapter in the network. SEA-Chicago takes pride in advancing the practice of social enterprise in the Chicago metropolitan area. We engage public and private lenders from enterprising nonprofits, social-purpose businesses, and capital providers who incorporate market-based strategies to advance social change. The success of our members is our #1 priority.
