Description

Ohio River Way, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to building awareness and celebrating our most valuable natural resource, the Ohio River. Annually our two-day Paddlefest attracts over 1,400 paddlers for a float down the Ohio River. The two-day festival drew 3,500 people plus 600 school children who participated in the largest water safety and outdoor education event in the mid-west.

In past years, the organization has hosted regional workshops and lectures to advocate the construction of a recreational and heritage trail from Maysville to Madison. Currently sections of the trail are completed from Aurora to Lawrenceburg; in engineering from Aurora to Rising Sun and from Lunken to New Richmond; and in planning from Newport to Rabbit Hash.

ORW committed to launching a capital campaign in 2007 to complete construction of the downtown to Lunken section in 2009. This is expected to coincide with the completion of the Little Miami Trail to Lunken. The Little Miami Trail is currently completed from Newtown to Urbana. ORW decided to focus on the downtown to Lunken section because it will tie downtown Cincinnati into an existing 225 mile trail network throughout Southwest Ohio.
