Mission: Provide a wide range of excellent career and employment services through partnerships at our Marina Del Rey location.

Description

Our services are free to the public. Clients use our self-help Resource Center and/or work one-on-one with staff. The Resource Center is equipped with job listings, computers, fax, printer, telephones, assistive technology, and community services information. Clients can also choose to attend different job search workshops (resume, interview, how to start a business, how to become a union apprentice) and employer recruitments (employers come on-site to interview clients for different jobs). A client seeking one-on-one assistance from staff would work with a Case Manager and a Job Developer. The Case Manager works with the client to develop and employment plan and will assist with some career assessment tests and supportive services as needed. The Job Developer provides the client with job leads, helps set up interviews, and advocates to employers on the client's behalf.

Serving as a volunteer workshop facilitator for Marina del Rey Worksource Center has been – and continues to be – a highly rewarding experience! Working with a new group of job-seekers nearly every week, I facilitate beginning and advanced workshops in resume writing and interview skills. As a group, I find the clients of WorkSource to be attentive, focused, receptive, and incredibly appreciative. Lisa, volunteer coordinator for the Center, is a true delight to work for. She took the time to prepare me thoroughly for my first workshop, routinely “audits” the workshops to help me improve my facilitation, and always shares with me the success stories of our clients . Nothing is more exciting than receiving an update from Lisa detailing the successful job placement of one of our clients!
