Description

The USO of Pennsylvania and South Jersey, (Liberty USO) is your local affiliate and is a privately funded, non-profit organization that has been serving the region's armed forces and their families since 1941.

Liberty USO has its headquarters and a service center in Terminal A-East of the Philadelphia International Airport. We are open 24 hours a day, seven days per week, 365 days per year. We also operate a service center at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst that is open during deployments and welcome homes. In addition to the two service centers, Liberty USO conducts activities at Naval Air Station/Joint Reserve Base Willow Grove, PA, and Fort Indiantown Gap, PA. The USO provides meals for service members and their families and a variety of other services for spouses and children seeing their loved ones off for service overseas and around the country. Services include all types of recreational, entertainment and morale - boosting activities.

To Volunteer

Liberty USO volunteers serve almost 194, 000 military personnel and their families each year throughout our geographical service region which includes centers at the Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), Willow Grove, McGuire AFB Passenger Air Terminal and Ft Dix, and support at Ft Indiantown Gap.

At PHL, volunteers greet traveling military personnel and their families The USO offers various amenities at this facility including travel assistance, a café, computer lab, sleeping quarters, and theater area. Volunteers provide warm hospitality to these weary heroes while they monitor and maintain these areas of the center. Liberty USO is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Shift schedules for the airport facility run as follows:

  • Midnight to 6am
  • 6am to noon
  • noon to 6pm
  • 6pm to midnight

Volunteers are asked to work a minimum of one 6hr shift a month.

At Ft. Dix and McGuire AFB, volunteers are the first to welcome home returning troops with hot meals and cheerful smiles. They also provide a farewell "taste of home" to deploying troops and send them on their way with hugs and Care Packages. For this interested in this heartwarming service, flexibility is key as days and times of these missions vary.

All volunteers for all locations must attend an orientation session at the Philadelphia International Airport center. Security clearance for both locations is required.
