Mission Statement

The Victoria Chamber Foundation was created under the Victoria Chamber of Commerce as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with the mission of increasing the educational attainment level of the community with its Sure B.E.T. (Business & Education Together) program. Sure B.E.T. was formed to help students achieve academically and to increase their chances for attending and succeeding in college. Sure B.E.T. is a collaborative of comprehensive involvement with schools, area businesses, the community college and universities, parents and the community. It encourages adult interaction with the education process through active involvement of the business community.

Description

Among other honors, Sure B.E.T. was recently recognized in Washingtion, D.C. by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as a finalist for the U.S. Community Service Award. It was the only Chamber of Commerce program to be nominated! Sure B.E.T. was created in partnership with many area organizations and business leaders to increase the educational attainment level of the community. It serves all students, including those who are disadvantaged, and has been described as the program to become the state and perhaps the national model!

The program has impacted 5,000 - 6,000 community members through its several facets which include: Mentoring/Tutoring, Occupation Investigations, Job Shadowing, a Youth Leadership Conference, and Business Cents Classes. The components of the Sure B.E.T. program empower students by providing a solid basis from which they will be able to launch their careers.
