Mission Statement
Elaine's Foundation for Homeless Felines is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to saving and insuring a better quality of life for homeless cats. We are a small volunteer non-profit group launched in an effort to control the overpopulation of cats in the New York - New Jersey area. Our mission is to raise money to spay/neuter feral cats and relocate their colonies from unsafe areas.
Description
Our Foundation is educating people and public officials about the Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR) Program, which is an efficient way of controlling the feral/stray cat population. Under TNR Program the cats are trapped, vaccinated, neutered or spayed, and then returned to their colony after a short period of recuperation. Some kittens and tame cats are adopted into good homes. Volunteers, who regularly feed and monitor the health of the colony -- all with absolutely no expense to the city or taxpayers, care for the others. When the TNR program is implemented, the results are nothing but positive: the cats roam and fight less, they don't reproduce, and keep the newcomers from wandering into the colony and increasing the population.
