Within the public and private sectors of local and world communities, Dream for Kids is working in schools and youth organizations in partnership with government and social agencies. We are bringing young people of all abilities together in small groups for the purpose of reinforcing the lessons learned from the classroom, building leadership skills and to serve the local and world communities.
Creating cooperative projects which serve the local and world community connect our youth to others in a way which encourages compassion for those who are both close to home and also a world apart from their daily lives.
While practicing skills such as organizing meetings, letter writing, public speaking, team building and different ability awareness, the Dream Leaders become active members of the community.
By reaching out to their peers in developing countries, Dream Leaders become involved in global issues and learn to become true citizens of the world.
The Extreme Recess! Program takes the Dream Leaders Program out of the classroom to adventrure activities that include: water skiing, snow skiing, kayaking, rock climbing, hand cycling, horseback riding, scuba diving, camping as well as many more life changing activites.
The program works with kids of all abilities, many who may have physical, developmental, social or emotional challenges to help them break through perceived barriers and encourage them to reach beyond expectations.
The beauty of the program is that the kids are so focused on having fun and working together to achieve a common goal, they don't see the differences, only the skills that each bring to make them a successful team!
The program provides adapted equipment and expert instruction to ensure that each child achieves success which results in improved self-esteem, greater confidence and probably the biggest benefit of all is the development of more friendships.
