Mission Statement

At Audubon Middle School we have never had an established college program to lead our students on the pathway to a higher education. However, this year we are fortunate to have the assistance of the UCLA BruinCorps program who have installed a 'College Career Center' and 'College Bound Culture' program at our school. The college career center has already created a clear presence among our students with the creation of various workshops, a field trip, and a weekly college club. Our mission is to open our students minds to the possibility of attaining a higher education and hopefully broadening their horizons in the process. We hope that through our college club meetings, guest speakers, field trips, and community service projects we will be able to show our students that they are the future of their community.

Description

Through the Audubon College and Career Center, we offer students the opportunity to engage themselves not only in their school but in the community as a whole. In our first year at Audubon, we have attended the West LA college fair, established weekly college club meetings where we create workshops to educate the children about their future prospects, we went on a field trip with 100 students to UCLA, had a cookie sale and donated 1/3 of our profits to the Susan G. Komen for breast cancer awareness organization, and held the 1st annual Audubon Holiday toy drive. During the second half of the year, we hope to establish further traditions in the Audubon community that will become habitual in the years to come.
