Mission Statement

The Long Center for the Performing Arts is founded on the belief that the performing arts are essential components in the quality of life of our community. Our performing arts organizations - from the smallest to the largest - deserve and need facilities that reflect their contribution to the culture of our community. Therefore, our mission is to create and manage a world-class facility that will serve the broad spectrum of performing arts organizations in Austin and Central Texas.

Description

The Long Center is a state-of-the-art multi-purpose performance venue with a 2400 seat concert hall and a 230 seat studio theatre. This center will be the new hub of the Austin arts scene, as the symphony, opera and ballet will soon call it their permanent home. Many other local theatre/arts groups will also enjoy our state-of-the art facility.

My husband and I have been volunteering as ushers at the Long Center for a couple of years now and we just love it! Sarah and Kyle are so friendly and enthusiastic and we've definitely broadened our cultural horizons by volunteering for ballets, operas, musicals, Shakesperean productions, comedies and all sorts of great live events! We've met lots of other very nice folks and enjoy giving back to the community this way. If you are a "people person" and you enjoy going to live events why not give it a try?
