Mission Statement

The mission of the Illinois EasternCommunity Colleges (IECC) District 529 is to provide excellence in teaching, public service, and economic development.

This project was funded by a grant awarded by the Illinois State Library (ISL), a division of the Office of Secretary of State, using state funds designated for literacy.

Description

We work with adults ages 16-150 years old that have a very low literacy rate below 9th grade level. We use volunteers from the communities to work 1 on 1 with adults approximately 1 hour per week or in a small group setting. The volunteers work with the adults as long as both parties want or until the 9th grade level is reached and or goes above.
