Mission Statement

Famicos aims to improve the quality of life in Cuyahoga County through neighborhood revitalization, affordable housing and integrated social services.

Famicos was founded in 1969 in response to the poverty, disinvestment and civil unrest threatening the survival of the Hough and Glenville neighborhoods of Cleveland. Initially operated by a diverse group of volunteers, Famicos now consists of 34 full-time professional staff persons dedicated to the mission. Our core means of accomplishing the mission is the development of affordable housing. To date, Famicos owns or manages over 1000 units of housing. Famicos still maintains a strong volunteer ethic, partnering with volunteers on projects ranging from building playgrounds to tax assistance.
