Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Monadnock Region, Inc. promotes positive change in children at risk of future negative behavior. The change process is achieved through one-to-one, professionally guided relationships with caring adult role models and friends.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Monadnock Region, Inc. is primarily a preventive service which provides children ages 6 to 18 the opportunity to benefit from a one-to-one relationship with a volunteer role model and friend. The goal for every match is to increase the client's self-esteem and build foundations for good relationships and responsible citizenship in the future. The agency will endeavor to match youngsters who have a demonstrated need for the mentoring relationship. Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Monadnock Region, Inc. is committed to providing an environment which supports volunteers from ages 16 and up, from all walks of life, who meet the agency's standards, and complete the required training, and who are involved in any of the agency's mentoring programs. Professional staff supervise volunteers in their efforts to help their Little Sisters and Brothers meet specific measurable behavioral objectives and offer them cultural, social, and recreational enrichment. Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Monadnock Region, Inc. functions as an advocate not only for its clients but for the welfare of all children in the region. To this end, the agency staff will network on behalf of children and may be involved in other youth programs as deemed appropriate by its board of directors.
