ASANC was formed in 1988 to provide comprehensive services to people living with HIV/AIDS, their family and friends; to provide prevention education and to promote community awareness and understanding about HIV/AIDS.
ASANC is a direct service not-for-profit organization and a member of the Triangle United Way. It has a Family Care Facility that houses five clients; provides case management; support groups and counseling; and has a food pantry. It also provides community education through its 1) Women's Outreach program which extends to women in correctional facilities, and also comprises street and community outreach; 2) a Youth Outreach program that has Street and Community Outreach volunteers talking to youth about HIV/AIDS prevention; and 3) a MSM program (Men Who Have Sex with Men) program that has a Bar Brigade program, and Thursday Night Testing.
