Mission Statement

To protect, preserve the history of Lake Township and to educate the public about the rich historyThe mission of the LTHS is to collect and preserve oral and written history and three-dimensional objects for the citizens of Lake Township. The Society strives to hold and maintain manuscripts, published material, prints, photographs, audio and visual recordings and ephemeral items. It also collects and maintains three-dimensional objects of historical and cultural value and costumes of historic significance.

Description

The Society has restored the Lake Center Schoolhouse Number 12 as a permanent site to experience the education process between mid 1800s through 1920. For more information on this project, please view the One-Room Schoolhouse Project part of this website.

In 2003 The Society took ownership of the previous Greentown Library building to use as a museum and society meeting room. The collection includes farming and commercial items as well as township cemeteries photos and information.
