Mission Statement

GFWC's mission is to assist the general communities of Morristown and Circle City, Arizona by providing leadership in uniting residents for public service exclusively for charitable purposes, including for such purposes as community improvements, educational and cultural enrichment, and the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501 (c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code.

Description

GFWC - Morristown is chartered by GFWC International, an organization dedicated to volunteer service in the community.

The club won a GFWC-Arizona award in 2006 for working with the Maricopa County Library District to get library service started as a first step toward getting a permanent library for our underserved and growing population and for ongoing sponsorship and participation in literacy programs in the local schools.

In 2007 and 2008 GFWC co-sponsored 4-week summer literacy programs at the Morristown Elementary School for 60 students. We plan to expand the program in 2009 to include Wittmann area children.

Both the library initiative and summer programs are funded by our Grand Desert Days Festival in April.
