Description

About us

Art Pulse, formerly San Diego Fine Art Society, gnites the art community of San Diego. We are passionately focused on developing, growing and promoting the health of the arts countywide. Using innovative ideas and proven programs, ArtPulse is rocking its vision of seeing the region become a premier destination for arts and culture. We invite you to join us!

The Mentor Program

The Mentor Program teaches professional artists about the art market, their role in it, and how to achieve their artistic visions. It provides artists with the professional and creative guidance they need, allowing them the insight, confidence, and contacts necessary to overcome obstacles in their careers. Mentees create a clear vision for their future, helping them to identify and circumvent blockades to their success. They find their place in the art market, bond with fellow artists in the program and complete individualized, focused tasks that move them closer to their goals.

Art Pulse TV

The purpose of Art Pulse TV, as with Art Pulse Mobile, is to harness technology and the way in which people receive information and entertainment to help them better access the arts. The trend toward online media outlets for arts and culture resources has been gaining speed. Executive Producer and former Chanel 10 news anchor Phoebe Chongchua creates short videos that are upbeat and produced in a high-quality and entertaining fashion, raising the credibility of the arts and making it easy and fun to get to know artists, curators, and events countywide. Beginning in June, award-winning videographer Rich Van Every joins the ArtPulse team with a new generation of hot video content.

Art Pulse Mobile

Art Pulse Mobile gives you the tools you need to stay connected and get involved in the arts in San Diego. It is an iPhone application that allows you to browse the countywide interactive Gallery Map, search by neighborhood, or find what’s closest to your current location. The app shows you the best route from where you are to the gallery, museum or event of your choice. The application is currently being reworked and will be offered free with improvements that include a social component and audio tour capability for our Cultural Partners, making enjoying museum and gallery experiences even more rich. Version three with our rebranded and updated user experience launches in June, 2011. The completely new Version Four of the app is slated for September, 2011.

Annual Art Awards

The Art Awards do many things. They honor the achievements of people, organizations and programs committed to enriching our community through the arts. They create a net of connectivity between organizations by publicly recognizing that we are all working together for the same cause. They build community excellence and pride through public nominations, voting, and celebration. They also drive desire into the art marketplace: desire to give, desire to experience, and desire to participate.

Pulse Gallery

Pulse is the art gallery of the San Diego Fine Art Society. In December when we took over the lease of the now-closed New Americans Museum, we decided to continue our work in offering what was needed and not offered in San Diego by dedicating the gallery to the exhibition of talented and largely unknown, up and coming San Diego and international artists. Exhibitions will run eight weeks (to counter a current trend toward shorter and shorter exhibition periods) and will highlight either in-depth presentations of one artist’s work or themed exhibitions around a concept that needs to be explored. There will always be an artist talk or panel discussion to dig deep into the work and to encourage conversation at least once during the run of the show.

Ongoing Art Pulse events and partnerships:

Lead Sponsor of the 2011 Americans for the Arts Annual Convention and Rivera Magazine AFTA Party Charity Partner of Art San Diego Contemporary Art Fair and host of the Art Pulse After Party Charity Partner of Pardon My French Social Club Host of Cool School University Club art collector education events

Creator of "H20: The Art of Conservation" sculpture installation at the Water Conservation Garden
