Mission Statement

The purpose of the Optimist Club of Eden Prairie is to develop Optimism as a philosophy of life utilizing the tenets of the Optimist creed; to promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs; to inspire respect for law; to promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendship among all people; to aid and encourage the development of youth in the belief that the giving of one's self in service to others will advance the well-being of humankind; community life and the world.

Description

It's our motto, it's who we are and what we do. We are people who care about the Eden Prairie Community and want to make a difference in the lives of young people. Our Club conducts positive service programs for children in the Eden Prairie Community and surrounding areas. The Eden Prairie Optimist Club was chartered in August of 1978 and has continued to grow. We believe that by investing in our youth, we can ensure a better tomorrow.

My experience with the Optimists is that they value Learning, Leadership, Excellence and a sense of community, not only in Eden Prairie but Minneapolis metro and nationwide. Being an Optimist is something that anyone can do, regardless of age, gender, occupation or background. As Walt Disney said: “You can dream, create the most beautiful place in the universe...but it takes people to make that dream a reality.”
