Mission Statement

The Victim Advocate Program at the New Smyrna Beach Police Department began on February 2, 1998. The program was formed to meet the needs of the citizens of New Smyrna Beach who become victims of crimes, and to survivors of those whom have lost their lives due to a violent act. The program also has volunteer advocates to assist with victims of disasters and accidents.

We are here to...

provide services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Provide referral to social service agencies for assistance with emergency needs such as clothing, food, shelter, and transportation.

Provide assistance in filling out all forms for injunctions, victim impact statements, & victim compensation forms.

Provide emotional and personal support during medical, criminal justice or law enforcement procedures.

Provide criminal court orientation, support and advocacy from arrest to the disposition of the case.

Provide assistance with property return, accompaniment during line-ups, interviews and photo review sessions.

Provide transportation and accompaniment to court related interviews, depositions, pretrial hearings, trials and sentencing.

Provide death notification in cases of homicide and other types of deaths.
