Mission Statement
The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.
Description
The American Cancer Society holds many fundraising events throughout the Rockford area and surrounding counties. These events raise money for important cancer research programs based in Illinois, as well as nationally. In addition, the donations raised through our events funds cancer education and prevention programs, advocacy efforts and local patient services. Every day cancer patients can receive assistance through the Society's 1-800-ACS-2345 cancer information line, the website at www.cancer.org, and through programs such as Reach to Recovery, Road to Recovery and local Wig Banks.
