Mission Statement

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.

Description

Relay For Life is a 24-hour team event to fight cancer and to raise awareness of this disease in our community. At the event, one person from each team will be taking turns walking the track all 24 hours...because cancer never sleeps - so as a community we are doing something about it!

We live for a world where no one would have to hear the words, "you have cancer." More than 75% of the American Cancer Society dollars are dedicated solely to research to support cancer patients and their families. 96% of every dollar goes directly to the cause, only 4% is spent on staff and administration - volunteers are what make this possible! All programs are funded from public contributions. This is the American Cancer Society’s signature fundraiser, with 1 out of every 100 people in the Nation participating in Relay For Life.

The ACS staff were very friendly and supportive and were available throughout the event to answer questions. It is a great cause and I was happy to be part of it.
