Mission Statement

The Peace Exchange Empower women and help fight the crisis in the Congo.

We believe education and empowerment change a community. Our focus is to see all the seamstresses of The Peace Exchange send their kids to school. As of today we have over 90% commitment from the working mothers to see their children receive an education. Many of the women, roughly 50%, are going back to school or enrolling in a literacy program themselves. With wages earned from our Fair Trade Centers, women are able to send their children to school thus helping break the cycle of poverty.

Description

The Peace Exchange works with marginalized regions of the world to create social enterprise, economic growth, sustainability, and entrepreneurial trainings for citizens of developing nations. The Peace Exchange has partnered with the women of Sewing Workshops by hiring them as employees to promote and sell their handmade items - fronm Congo sold in the U.S. There is no middle-man. We work directly with the sewing workshops. We visit them. We are hands-on.
