Mission Statement

Hot August Nights is a non-profit organization whose primary objective is to host a uniquely vibrant annual event and other supportive activities that celebrate the cars and music of the 50's and 60's. It provides spectators and participants the opportunity to relive the excitement of the era of America 's "Happy Days" at the nation's largest nostalgia festival.

Description

More than 800,000 people descend on Northern Nevada to pay homage to Reno's annual tribute to America's love affair with cars and rock n' roll.

From cruising, to a prom, to show-n-shines, to craft fairs and exhibitions, to classic car auctions, to the Big Boy's Toy Store, to unequaled free entertainment, to the classic culmination of Sunday's superb 6,000 car parade through downtown Reno , Hot August Nights is a time of unprecedented fun and fantasy. Additionally, the great entertainers of the 50's and 60's perform in concert nightly on several open-air stages in the greater Reno/Sparks area.

It takes over 500 volunteers to produce this great event. Our volunteers are not "just volunteers", they are a part of the Hot August Nights family. Our volunteer membership is active throughout the year with parties and community functions. During the Event our volunteer members are the heart and soul of this magnificent Event and willingly volunteer for everything - from traffic control to managing a venue. If you want to be near the cars, there is the Car Committee who manages the show-n-shines, cruises and the Sunday parade. If you can't work out in the sun, you can volunteer for our Check-In Committee who greets the car participants at the Grand Sierra Resort get them checked in and hand out the goody bags and credentials. Other areas of service include Member Services, The Foundation Committee, Operations Committee, Food & Beverage Committee, Entertainment Committee, Special Events, Event Information, Car Judging and Awards and the Finance Committee.
