Mission Statement

Canyon Education Foundation raises funds to preserve the programs of Canyon School, a small schoolhouse in the redwoods with strong community ties to the town of Canyon.

Description

CEF is a volunteer organization made up of parents of Canyon School students, and members of the Canyon town community.

Ours is a small, three-class schoolhouse, with 70 students in grades kindergarten through 8. We're in the tiny community of Canyon in the redwoods, on the eastern slope of the Oakland Hills. Our students learn and grow in an atmosphere of nature, mentorship, respect, and artistry - a culture begun and nurtured by the town of Canyon.

CEF was created to preserve our school, when state budget cuts took funding below necessary operating costs. We have raised our funds by asking for direct contributions from school and town community members, and by holding fundraising events. Our events have included raffles,

(CEF is not the parent-teacher organization of Canyon School - we exist only to raise funds for the basic operating expenses. CATSS - Canyon Association to Support the School - facilitates the school's enrichment and community efforts.)
