To protect and improve the water quality of the Lower Cape Fear River Basin through Education, Advocacy, and Action.
We organize monthly environmental seminars that cover topics and issues affecting the Lower Cape Fear River Basin. We encourage working internships for students. At Greenfield Lake, we offer Environmental Education classes, and provide Eco-Tours and Bird Watching Tours. CFRW offers water-quality education programs to groups including schools, civic groups, developers, homeowner associations and others. We provide storm water management training for local government staff. [To see more of what we do, view our Annual Report here!]
Our RIVERKEEPER and River Watch members work on water quality related issues such as stopping heavy industrial pollution, concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs), and fish restoration in the Cape Fear River. [Read more on our Advocacy page]
We paddle. We clean-up. We monitor water quality and conduct research. We educate citizens and community members, from age 1-100! We care for our region’s rivers, streams, and tributaries - and you can too! Keep up-to-date about our activities, and join in anytime! [View our Activity Calendar here]
WaterKeeper Alliance We are a member of The WaterKeeper Alliance, an environmental "neighborhood watch" program designed to protect communities and the waters on which they depend by making all waterways fishable, swimmable, and drinkable.
