Description

Historic Stagville is a North Carolina Historic Site that interprets Stagville Plantation, which was part of the largest plantation complex in North Carolina at the start of the Civil War. The plantation amounted to 30,000 acres, spreading across four counties, and about 900 enslaved people lived and worked on the plantation complex. Historic Stagville visitors tour the first plantation home, original slave cabin, and barn, which was the largest agriculture building in the state upon completion in 1860.
