The purpose of the Association shall be to foster, develop, promote and regulate amateur softball; to provide education and proper safeguards in accordance with the spirit of true sportsmanship; to encourage the unification of all amateur teams and qualified championships.

Description

Metro Orlando Amateur Softball Association, Inc. was chartered and approved as a not-for-profit corporation in 1971. In October 1994, the original bylaws were repealed, and these appended bylaws were approved and adopted by the Board of Directors. In August 1999, the Board of Directors approved to change the name to Central Florida Amateur Softball Association, Inc. In September 2006, Central Florida Amateur Softball Association, Inc. was granted a 501c3 tax-exempt status by the United States Internal Revenue Service.

Central Florida Amateur Softball Association, Inc. is an affiliated association of the Amateur Softball Association of America, Inc./USA Softball (ASA) and has been granted authority over the Florida counties of Brevard, Citrus, Hernando, Indian River, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Sumter and Volusia.

The Amateur Softball Association of America recognizes all amateur sports and claims jurisdiction and is recognized by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) as the National Governing Body of Softball. The constitution and bylaws of ASA are adopted by the Central Florida Amateur Softball Association, Inc. and are incorporated herein by reference. Should there be conditions that conflict with the codes incorporated in these bylaws, then the codes of the regional and/or national associations shall have precedence.
