Our Adult Day Respite Program is designed to support persons living with memory loss and their caregivers. We offered loved ones a much-needed respite from the mental and physical demands of care-giving while participants enjoy social, cognitive and physical activity to enhance their quality of life. Over the years, the Adult Day Respite Program has helped many isolated seniors remain, healthy, happy and connected with their community. We are looking for volunteers to help the Day / Respite Program Coordinator with participant activities, supervision, cleaning and meal service. The program meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 10am-2pm.

ABOUT Volunteering for Senior Peer Support (SPS): SPS is a group of compassionate and dynamic Sonoma County volunteers with life experience (50+) who are trained and supervised by a mental health professional to support individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, isolation and other life challenges related to aging. Training is offered two times a year in Spring and Fall. Training involves a 12 week commitment for two hours per week on Wednesdays @ 10 am to 12 noon. Once training is complete, the commitment to the Senior Peer Support program entails weekly two hour support and supervision meetings on Tuesdays from 11:00am to 1:00pm. This volunteer program is fun and flexible and accommodates volunteers need for breaks and vacation schedules. Accepting a case is always voluntary and involves working with a senior client for up to 12 weeks, meeting weekly for about one hour with the client in their home. Folks who have learned successful ways to cope with depression and anxiety or have experience or interest in working with problems of aging are very welcome. Bi-lingual and LGTQ applicants are needed and absolutely welcome.
