Mission Statement

The mission of the ToDo Institute is to create personal, family, and community change through:

The skillful use of attention;
the cultivation of gratitude;
the awareness of interdependence;
the ability to put oneself in another's shoes;
and purposeful action in the face of obstacles.

Building on methods of Japanese psychology, we offer an elegant blend of the spiritual, the psychological and the practical.

Description

Founded in 1992 as a non-profit education and retreatcenter, the ToDo Institute serves as a meeting place between east and west. By blending Japanese approaches to mental health, known as Morita Therapy and Naikan, we provide a natural approach to mental wellness that bridges the gap between the spiritual, the psychological and the practical.

Our retreat center is nestled on 12 wooded acres in the foothills of the Green Mountains. Our peaceful grounds, walking trails, scenic views and beautiful facility offer a quiet setting for personal renewal and growth. In addition to our on-site programs and retreats, we conduct long distance learning programs, publish books as well as a quarterly journal, and provide an outstanding collection of resources through our online bookstore and library.

We offer an opportunity to experience, rather than simply imagine, a change in the way you live. During your visit to the ToDo Institute you can step back and reflect on your life, establish new purposes, and learn practical tools for working with your attention, your goals, your relationships and your psychological health. The ToDo Institute teaches modern people to use timeless techniques for leading aware, realistic, present-centered lives.
