After-School program at the Northpointe Apartment Homes
Sucess in Challenges (SIC) after-school program consist of assistance with homework and enrichment activities that include arts & crafts, sports and recreation, Mentee and Me (self help) and performing arts. The program operates M-F from 3pm-6pm daily. The program is year-around but the schedule is slightly different during school breaks and summer.
During the summer months we operate a reading enrichment program called Freedom School. Freedom School is a six weeks program that provides free quality out-of-school time enrichment for children ages 6-16 that boosts motivation to read, develops positive attitudes towards learning, cultivates self-esteem and connects the needs of families to local resources. This program is part of the national Children's Defense Fund Freedom Schools program.
During the school year (Sept.-June) we also provide free weekly tutoring for students grades 3-12 in math and english and we sponsor a weekly Art Class for youth ages 6-16 years of age designed to allow them to explore their natural creativity with paint and clay.
