Como Park Elementary

Description

The school offers a Community Kindergarten program for targeted 4-year-olds. In addition to the regular half-day kindergarten, Como Elementary offers the Kindergarten Language Development Model program and Kindergarten Plus that provide students additional time in the classroom to develop literacy skills. Schoolwide Title I/Prevention programs provide additional support for students who are not achieving in school up to their abilities. Students learn to use technology as a tool for learning, processing and presenting information in a variety of subject areas. There are many children that are new to the country or English is their second language. Our mission is to promote academic achievement and English language proficiency of English Language Learners at Como Park Elementary School. The use of technology is essential for ensuring today's students are prepared for tomorrow's workplace and Como Elementary takes the job of preparing students seriously. Como has computers in every classroom, two traditional computer labs, and a mobile lab that includes laptop computers that can be used in any classroom.

Students use computers daily for reading tests and math practice through programs such as Accelerated Reader and Accelerated Math
