Description
The Watkins VITAL Care Program is a community-based life skills training transition program for young adults with moderate to severe autism, severe intellectual disabilities, or other challenging conduct issues. The program is intended to service those individuals at the more severe end of the diagnostic profile and may still require 1:1 adult assitance for behaviors, their safety, and the safety of others. In general the individual consumers in this program are non-verbal or limited verbal and may have a various levels of communication skills, such as signing, limited vocal/verbal, use of picture communication and/or augmentative communication devices programmed for basic communication needs in varying community settings. The continued intervention of language and communication skills is considered vital to integration in community settings.
